My particular interest in the project stems from the fact that my father, Dr. David F. Wolter, was a prisoner of war at Stalag Luft III from July 1, 1944 until the evacuation on January 27 1945. After the forced march from Sagan to Moosburg, Germany he was a POW at Stalag 7A until that camp was liberated on April 29, 1945 by General George H. Patton and his Third Army. Both the march and the days in Moosburg are also covered in the history transcribed here.
